Voice of Pigsy dies

The actor who voiced Pigsy in Monkey has died.

Peter Woodthorpe, the actor responsible for Pigsy's English voice in the cult Japanese TV show Monkey passed away last Thursday, 12th August.

Monkey told the surreal story of the boy priest Tripitaka's quest to retrieve ancient Buddhist texts. The journey involved encounters with many perilous creatures, and protection for Tripitaka came in the form of animal spirits Monkey, Pigsy and Sandy.

Woodthorpe's death comes less than a month after he finished recording the voice of Pigsy for thirteen Monkey episodes that have previously not been dubbed or broadcast in the UK.
