Emmy given to Taken

Emmy given to Taken

Taken, Steven Spielberg's ten-part epic of alien abduction, has won one of this year's Primetime Emmys.

After last week's Creative Arts Awards, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences presented their Primetime Awards in Los Angeles last night.

Steven Spielberg's Taken emerged victorious, in the Outstanding Miniseries category, achieving the unusual feat of beating Hitler and Napoleon at the same time. Well, it beat rival miniseries devoted to those historical leaders, at least.

Although Alias, 24, The Simpsons and Malcolm in the Middle all succeeded in the Creative Arts categories on September 13th, there were no further wins for them in the 28 categories announced last night.

Instead, comedy series Everybody Loves Raymond and TV movie Door to Door swept to the top of the awards table. There was also a first-time Emmy for Monk star Tony Shalhoub - as Outstanding Comedy Actor.
