Alyson Hannigan has landed a sitcom role.

Hannigan is to co-star with Jennifer Love Hewitt and Ed O'Neill in the sitcom In the Game.

The Hollywood Reporter says that she plays the best friend of Hewitt's character, a cub sports reporter.

Ed O'Neill, Al Bundy in Married with Children, plays the sports show's executive producer.

Hannigan was to star in a sitcom of her own, but although a pilot was recorded for NBC, a series wasn't commissioned.

She has recently appeared in episodes of That '70s Show, however.
