Born on 9th September 1968, Julia Sawalha first came to the public's attention playing the formidable newspaper editor Linda Day in the ITV children's drama Press Gang.

Julia is probably best known for playing the much put upon Saffy, daughter of Edina Monsoon, in Absolutely Fabulous. Other notable television appearances include roles in Faith in the Future, Pride and Prejudice and Time Gentlemen Please.

Julia voiced the part of Ginger in the animated feature Chicken Run and played the role of companion Emma in the Doctor Who Red Nose Day spoof The Curse of Fatal Death.
