Sort of the prototype of the in-car CD multichanger
- in the same way that the PG Tips chimps are the antecedents of
modern man. Eight track was going to replace every other way of
listening to music.
Designed for car stereos, the chunky cartridges filled with constantly
fraying ¼ inch tape were expected to be around forever. But then
it all went wrong. Some say an asteroid hit the earth, others that
we simply realised they were rubbish.
