Quiffs and T’s

Quiff hairstyles grew ever more outrageous, fuelled by the influence of pop stars like Bryan Ferry, of Roxy music, with his Elephant’s Trunk quiff.

Political and subversive slogans began appearing on all sorts of celebrities’ T-shirts. Jane Fonda protested against Vietnam in hers, and Coca-Cola sued an entrepreneur who altered the classic T-shirt featuring the Coca-Cola logo to read "Enjoy Cocaine".

In September a man wearing a T-shirt promoting a gay "hunky man" contest made the news when he was allegedly made to turn his shirt inside-out to enter Disneyland.
