In 1948 Harry Corbett purchased a bear glove puppet at Blackpool pier for 7s 6d to entertain his children. In 1955 Sooty got his very own show: The Sooty Show. The show ran on various channels until the mid-1990s with Matthew Corbett (Harry's son) taking over in 1967.
