TONY BREAKS HIS SILENCE

He may be hot in Hollywood these days, but Tony Head hasn't forgotten his roots, or the BBC.

When he found he had time on his hands during last summer's Buffy hiatus, Tony jumped at the chance to play a man suspected of murder in the latest Silent Witness (BBC1 Monday 9.10pm, concludes Tuesday 9pm).

“He's an interesting character to play,” Tony told a newspaper, “he has no morals or scruples whatsoever”.

Having to spend eight months of the year away from his family, Tony also appreciated being back in the UK. “Working on Silent Witness was the perfect job for me because I was able to commute to the set in Hertfordshire every day.”

SARAH'S SUNSET SHOCKER

She may be feared by Sunnydale's scarier inhabitants, but even the Slayer can get a fright in Hollywood. The National Enquirer reports that Sarah Michelle Gellar recently fought off what they describe as ‘a freaky skinhead type’ whilst driving along a seedier stretch of Sunset Blvd.

The man opened the door of Sarah's car whilst she waited at traffic lights, howling "Hey girl, where you goin'?"

Sarah, quick with her Slayer senses, hit the accelerator and left the man flat on his backside in the road, probably wishing he had picked an easier target than the Chosen One!

XANDER GETS HIS GIRL AND HEADS FOR BRITAIN

Sorry ladies, Nicholas Brendon is off the eligible bachelor list. Nick proposed to his girlfriend of two years Tressa diFiglia on their second anniversary this week! Congratulations! Just don't tell Anya...

There might be some consolation in the news that Nick is planning to visit the UK for promotional appearances in June. We will let you know exact dates and venues as and when we get them.

BURNING BOOKS AND LOST SLAYERS

Pocket Books have revealed their Buffy and Angel plans for the rest of the year. In addition to the regular novels, the range will feature two special projects.

Starting in June with The Burning, the Unseen trilogy sees a number of firsts for the novels: They will become Pocket Books’ first Buffy/Angel crossover tales, the first novels to be set beyond the tail end of season three, and the first to feature Wesley in his new role at Angel Investigations. Parts two and three, The Door to Alternity and The Long Way Home, are published in August and October respectively.

Also watch out for an experiment along the lines of Stephen King's The Green Mile project: a book published in small, affordable sections over several months.

Christopher Golden's The Lost Slayer will be published in bite-sized chunks between September and December this year. Each volume will cost £2.99. Faith will get her own book of episode adaptations, The Faith Trials. An Angel episode guide is tentatively scheduled for early 2002.

JOSS NOT LOVING THE ALIEN

Despite newspaper reports that he will be penning the fifth instalment of the popular Alien film franchise, Joss Whedon is not involved in the project. Probably because there is no project!

An old, old comment from star Sigourney Weaver suddenly got twisted into the claim that she was returning for a record-breaking amount of cash and that Joss would reprise his scripting duties from Alien: Resurrection. Never mind, there's always Toy Story 3...

SCOOBY DOO

For those of you wanting news on Scooby Doo, Doug Petrie's interview is still available (RealMedia).
