Monday 4th September
'Buffy The Vampire Slayer' and 'Angel' have failed to win three of the four Emmy Awards that they were nominated for. The Outstanding Cinematography award went to 'The West Wing' and the Outstanding Hairstyling award went to 'Saturday Night Live'. The Make-Up award, which 'Angel' was nominated for, was given to 'The X-Files'. There’s still hope for 'Buffy…' though: the award for Outstanding Writing, (which includes Joss Whedon’s script for 'Hush' among the nominees), will be announced at the main ceremony on September 10th.

The WB network has announced that the new seasons of 'BtVS' and 'Angel' will begin earlier than had been speculated, on September 26th. The new seasons were expected to premiere during the same week that new seasons of 'Charmed', 'Dawsons Creek', 'Felicity' and 'Roswell' make their debut.

Eliza Dushku (Faith) has been cast as the female lead in 'The New Guy', a new film being directed by Ed Decter for Revolution Studios.

Some on-line retailers are now taking orders for "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" DVDs, even though an official announcement has yet to be made. Some are even listing extra features, including a Joss Whedon commentary for the first two episodes ('Welcome to the Hellmouth' and 'The Harvest'). It's possible that other territories, including the US and Australia (which uses the same TV broadcast format as the UK), will get the discs before the UK...
