About Us

Big Ben, London

BBC World Service was the first major international broadcaster to establish a Croatian service and recognise the changing political situation in the region.

The first broadcast in Croatian was on September 29th 1991. The Croatian section was created from the division of the Yugoslav section which had been broadcasting since 1939.

The section broadcasts four times a day for a total of an hour and a half. Most of our programmes are news and current affairs using our large network of correspondents throughout the world.
