Between 10.25am and 10.40am on Tuesday 9 November 2010, three masked men forced their way into Nazir Jewellers on Queen Mary’s Road in Coventry as owners arrive and open up the store.
The three men has been waiting inside a white Mercesdes “Sprinter” van registration Y397 DDV which had been parked outside the jewellers the night before.
Once inside the owners were separated. One of them was threatened with a handgun and forced to open the shop’s safes.
The gang filled up a black hold-all with cash and jewellery before they made their escape in a waiting sliver Audi A3 (showing the false plates RK07 PPX) - which drove off at speed with the boot still open. This proved to be a bit of a problem when in a nearby street they lost their loot out of the back of the car and had to reverse – almost ripping the car door off in the process – before they were able to retrieve it.
The armed robbers took more than £150,000 worth of jewellery and cash.
