Police in Lancashire are currently investigating 50 linked burglaries at golf clubs up and down the country over the last 15 months. So far golf equipment to the value of over half a million pounds has been stolen.
CCTV shows two of the offences. The first is at Taunton Vale Golf Club in Somerset on the 23rd March 2009. One offender can be seen trying to enter the security code to the locker rooms. He eventually cracks the code and goes inside to steal thousands of pounds of golfing equipment.
The second offence is at Oakmere Park Golf Club in Nottingham on the 11th March 2009. This time two offenders can be seen. Again, thousands of pounds of golfing gear was taken.
In addition to this a number of offences have occurred in Lancashire with five golf clubs being targeted in just one day at Hurlston Hall golf club, Ormskirk golf club, Dean Wood golf club in Upholland, Chorley golf club and Ashton and Lea golf club, at Preston.

His face is described as quite round with a reddish complexion. He is always seen wearing a golf cap, with little or no hair on view beneath the base of the cap. He has distinctive ears in that they appear small and stick out. They appear to be slightly swollen, similar in appearance to ‘cauliflower’ ears as are common in the sport of rugby or wrestling.
In one offence at Workington one of the offenders was spoken to and all though the description given was slightly different in height, the witness described this offender, who had no headwear, as having ginger coloured spiky hair, which was slightly feathery at the back. He appeared to have a couple of day’s growth of stubble which also appeared ginger in colour. He was described as having a ‘scouse’ accent.
Male 2 - is slightly younger, 35 – 40 yrs, slimmer in appearance, with slightly longer and darker hair. He is about 5’ 10” to 6' 0" tall and around 12 stone.
