The main business for Smiths Concrete on the Bubbenhall site is quarrying gravel and sand from the area and then refilling the pits.

Eventually the company aims to return the area to high quality agricultural land.

The operations you can see include:

" Extracting gravel
" Filling in the quarry with inert materials
" Waste recycling
" Demolition waste being crushed to produce hardcore

Click the audio link in the green box to the right to hear conversations with experts at Warwickshire Museum. The experts describe the quarry's impact on the biodiversity and talk about how important the quarry workers are in the collection of artefacts.
