Chris Manning won the Jaks 'This Is Your Moment' final earlier this year and saw off competition from 10,000 other hopefuls to land a place on the Fameacademy, the new BBC show.

Manning was one of 12 contestants who were named for the show which began on Friday, October 4 2002 on BBC One.

Jaks Manager Carl Campbell hoped the 23 year-old go far in the TV show, but sadly he was voted off the TV show on Friday 18 October.

Talented singer

He said: "He is a very talented singer; he had to be to win 'This Is Your Moment' because the standard was very high.

"I was pleased to see that he had made it into the final 12 for Fameacademy and I hope he goes on to do well.

"It would be nice to think that we had given him a step on the fame ladder, because he said after winning 'This Is Your Moment' that it had benefited him as a singer and a performer.

"We see a great deal of talent here at Jaks at our regular karaoke sessions on a Monday."

Chris doesn't make it through

On Friday 18 October, our lovely Chris was voted off. We had our fingers crossed for him, but unfortunately he didn't get through!

Just a few minutes after learning that he was the one to go, Chris was reunited with his cheering family, The Academy teachers and fans on the BBC Choice Live Show.
