The Warwick Folk Festival was a huge success on 26 - 28 July 2002.
We strive every year to improve on last year and this year we have produced one of the best ever. Thanks to the efforts of a great team.

It was the hottest day of the year so far, excellent live music, a varied dance programme and much much more. No wonder it attracted thousands of people from far and wide.

The Warwick Folk Festival on July 26-28 2002, had events throughout the town centre and on the huge Warwick School campsite.
A host of brilliant concerts, ceilidhs, workshops and dance displays entertained thousands of people for three unforgettable days.
Of course the weather helped, too, as the festival was blessed with the hottest day of the year so far on Sunday 28 July.

People in Warwick were also entertained by the festival, as the music and dancing spread from the festival site into the town.
A huge stage was used for concerts in Market Square, drawing massive crowds.
As well as inevitably flooding into the town bars, scores of morris dancers entertained crowds in Market Square and Swan Street.
The variety of dancing, from morris troupes all over the country, was the best display I've seen in years. This was a real treat for Warwick weekend shoppers.

The campsite was huge - and it needed to be! - and yet the facilities were more than adequate.
It seemed laughably ambitious to have a designated quiet area on the site. Amazingly, though, the quiet area actually did stay pretty calm.
This was just one example of the combination of organisation and courtesy that made the event such a success.
The site had live music, workshops, events for kids, food, music stalls, dances, crafts and much too much more to list here. With all this AND a swimming pool on site.
I think this had to be the best equipped festival site of the year.

The atmosphere throughout the weekend was brilliant. Everyone was there to have a good time and joking, sharing and chilling out together was all part of that plan.
Predictably, the beer tent provided the home to most of the weekend's hospitality, although the good weather created a happy atmosphere throughout the whole site and the town.
The festival inspired great reviews from both audiences and performers. Below are just a few of the positive comments on the event:
"What a fantastic festival [it is] at Warwick. If I had to try and find fault, I'm glad to say I would fail! Everything was just brilliant. I enjoyed myself so much...Playing on the marquee stage was amazing!"
Harriet Bartlett
"[it was] an excellent festival. I was delighted with the guests that were allocated to the singarounds I was running. I thought the trad representation at the festival was very good."
Pete Burnham
"...we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and what glorious weather; although I must admit we were wilting a little on the later afternoon spots. The mayor's procession and garden party on Sunday were a real bonus. Hope we can come again another year."
Chris Leat for Ryknild Rabble
"Just a line to say how much we enjoyed the festival, and to thank and congratulate everyone concerned with the organisation."
