The Coventry Car Run has been described as the biggest event of its kind in Europe and this year was no exception as more than 500 vehicle processed through the city and Warwickshire.

Thousands of people gathered at the city's Memorial Park after the run to take a closer look at the cars, which spanned more than a century of motoring in Coventry and beyond.

The car's the star

There was a real flavour of the big screen at this year's event, which was blessed with bright September sunshine throughout.

The Ausin Powers Shaguar - a Jaguar XK8 bedecked in a Union Flag paint job, led the procession as it left in the morning.

Bringing up behind was the Jaguar XJ8 cabriolet used by the baddies in the latest James Bond flick Die Another Day and, Stratford-based star of the big screen, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Joining them were hundreds of other local marques, including Peugeot, Alvis, Singer, Humbers, Rileys, Talbots and Daimlers.

Thunder roads

As well as the road-going classics, there were a number of thundering-engined race cars in the parade.

Head of Coventry-based Peugeot's Motorsport Division, Mick Linford, starred in the Coventry-based firm's 205 T16 rally car.

The magnificent custom Model T
It was challenged in the noise stakes by a Model T Hot Rod - a super-charged monster - with its polished aluminium Rover V8 engine, topped off with a Holly carb and GMC truck supercharger.

The car was the star of a number of Model Ts, which prompted a number of happy comments from guests who stopped to take a closer look.

On two wheels

Legendary US bike manufacturer Harley Davidson joined in the fun to mark its centenary this year.

The legendary US marque celebrates a centenary of production this year and will be celebrating in style at the show.

Scores of the mega-powered monster bikes were on show, with a variety of glorious custom paint jobs and some gorgeous, gleaming chrome and leather.

No parade of two-wheeled vehicles would be complete without Coventry's own bikes.

A number of city-manufactured machines appeared, with names from the past including Brough, Sunbeam, Vincent, Matchless, AJS, Royal Enfield, Norton, BSA and, of course, Triumph.
