On 30 October 2004 the Coventry City Circle organised a celebration of Iftar.
The event encouraged non-Muslims to gain a better understanding of Ramadan by experiencing the daily event of Iftar (breaking the day's fast).

Since Ramadan started on 15 October, for a month Muslims give up food and drink, smoking and sexual activity from dawn until dusk.
This act is a difficult one, to test obedience to God, to display self-discipline and to focus on repenting and doing good.
The public Iftar event, at St Pauls Church Hall in the centre of Foleshill, was organised by Coventry City Circle.

The circle is a relatively-new group who arrange debates, celebrations and other events to broaden interaction and build relationships between all sectors of the community.
As an example of this, the Iftar event devoted over an hour to discussions and open questions, to ensure everyone had a chance to mix and learn from each other.
