View of Ragley Hall
All dozen or so rooms that are open to the public have a magnificent baroque decoration - including ornamented chimneypieces and ceilings, eclectic furniture collected throughout the centuries and a painting of 'Prinny', the Prince Regent and later King George IV who was a close friend of the family.
Wandering along the four corners of the house you will be amazed at the colourful interiour of the rooms. No single one ressembles the other. The contrast couldn't be more vivid - and splendid to be sure - when you walk from the red saloon into the green drawing room.
Another true highlight is the 40 foot high great hall. Looking upwards you can see the ceiling's centre medallion which shows Minerva, the Roman warrior goddess, racing across the sky.
Relax in the tea room or have a picnic
The music room
After a tour of the house which will last about half to one hour - depending on the patience of any younger visitors - you can stroll around the formal rose garden behind the main building. From there you can enjoy the stunning view onto acres and acres of park- and woodland.
And then it's time to relax: have a cuppa in the adjoining tea room or a family picnic near the tranquil lakeside area.
Kids will be busy exploring the adventure wood and find their way around the 3D maze. Small and big horse fans can discover the stables with its carriage collection and equestrian memorabilia.
Ragley Hall is located two miles sourth-west of Alcester off the A46/A435.
