 Cyrea
Cyrea by Bruno Cavellec. A profile artist that went on to win the Rugby OPen painting prize
No, this is a completely free service offered to promote local talent and interest in the arts.

Will I get my slides/photographs back?

Yes, as soon as we’ve finished with them. We’d appreciate it if you enclose a self-stamped addressed envelope, but cannot be held responsible for any lost or damage in the post.

What do I have to do to apply?

To apply, post or email the following:

• 300 words about your artwork
• A telephone number or email address

I am not a visual artist, can I still apply?

Yes, we also have profiles of poets, designers and film makers on the site and welcome any creative work.

I used to live in the area but don’t anymore. Can I still apply?

Yes, anyone with a connection to the Coventry and Warwickshire area (through exhibitions, study etc).

I’m not a member of any of the local art societies, does this matter?

You don’t need to be a member of a society or have lots of professional experience. We only make a judgement on your artwork.

Is there an age limit?

 Alex's costume design
Artwork by Alex Smith, aged 18
Anyone with creativity can apply, which includes students and people of all ages.

How will I know if I’ve been selected?

We will get in touch with you, either by email or by letter along with the return of your visual material. This will include the link to your personal profile if you’ve been successful.

How long will it take before I have an answer?

We will contact you to let you know your application has been received and will then give you an idea of how long we will need to make the decision or make the web pages. We aim for the whole process to take less than three weeks usually.

Can I use the link on my CV?

 Artwork by Mark Tilley
Sculpture by Mark Tilley
Yes. Although the BBC reserves the right to change links, we don’t expect to in this case so your profile should be a permanent online portfolio for you to put on CVs, business cards, auto-signatures etc.

Aren’t there other sites providing this?

There are a number of portfolio sites on the web, but this is the only one specifically for artists in the Coventry and Warwickshire area.

It is unique in being free and for anyone, regardless of experience or membership of arts groups. This is also why it is the largest website section of its kind.

Are there any catches?

No, except the usual editorial rules. The BBC retains the right to select and edit material. Copyright remains with the artist and no payment or expenses will be paid by the BBC.
