The Green Garden Cafe is a social enterprise not for profit company, based in Coventry. They cater for events all over the UK and pride themselves on their vegetarian, non-dairy ethics. They support and encourage all members of the community with their community allotment and youth work. Green Garden Café also runs a weekly community cafe at St Peter's Community Centre, Hillfields every Tuesday. Theme: Peace and ReconciliationMembers: Cathy Scott, Richard Easterlow, Bianca-Cherie Hunt, John Curtin, Sole Iriart, Dave Palmer. Coventry Cathedral is an iconic symbol of peace across the world. Instead of using a dove as a symbol of peace, the group have decided to use a swan instead to reflect Swanswell Park. The iconic three spires and the Cathedral ruins are safely ensconsed in the swan's wings. ![]() Green Garden Cafe creating their portraits Coventry is a Fairtrade city and all food on the board is suitable for everyone - including vegetarians and Vegans - to continue to reflect the themes of the group. The group were keen to remember Jill Pipps, a Coventry girl who lost her life protesting against live animal exports in 1995, so they have covered the board with shortbread calves and a cow. They are chequered to show the 2-Tone musical heritage of the city. The group also chose to make hands, as they felt hands were an important sign of peace. They've made them in two different colours to show the diverse communities living together in Coventry.
