Gingerbread men at work

A business in Shipston-on-Stour is doing its best to bring a smile to shoppers and tourists who are fed up with disruption caused by some essential water main works.

Taste of the Country, a specialty food shop, has put a smile on the faces of passers by with their unusual window display.

After several trials and experiments, they finally came up with the scene that shows gingerbread men... at work!

What a scene

Complete with hard hats and high-visibility jackets, the gingerbread men are digging holes, reading a newspaper and one is even stuck down a hole - a reflection on the maintenance work, which is currently being carried outside in the street.

BBC Coventry & Warwickshire's Liz Kershaw spoke with the shop's owner, Jim Cherry, about how the idea came about and how - despite access roads to the shop being closed - gingerbread men are proving popular in Shipston.
