Band Of The Month

We asked Adam about the band and its origins. He said: "We got together at university, Me, Matt and Thomas all pretty much do the same course and James lived with Thomas in the first year.

Band of the Month for March 2009

"We all met on a trip to Music Live in Birmingham. On the bus back to Coventry, we got talking about music and realised we had a mutual love of the blues. We then began meeting up to jam and this developed into writing our own stuff and finding our own style."

We have been playing their song Bluestown on BBC Coventry & Warwickshire Introducing and it is probably one of the band's standout tracks. Its funky blues beat could easily be heard coming out of bars in Beale Street, Memphis and the guitar instrumental is very Clapton-esque.

In contrast, the song Mistakes slows down the pace and is a very melodic blues with backing harmonies that make you want to sing along and tap your feet - maybe even sway along! It's a perfect summer tune.

We also asked Adam to describe their sound. He told us: "Our music is kind of a new style of blues. Taking big influences from other styles such as pop, rock, funk and soul, but still trying to retain the feeling of the blues."

On stage

With bands such as Momma's in the Kitchen, Shackletons - and The Blue Stones - it's safe to say that the blues is alive and well in Coventry and Warwickshire.
