Monday, 2 February 2009An Australasia aura overcame the University of Warwick on the final day event of One World Week 2009. The Students' Union hosted a variety of cultural experiences from donning traditional Oriental wear to Henna hand painting. Guests were also given the opportunity to learn the technique behind ancient martial arts and also connect with fascinating Australian animals. The forum element continued to impress as a high-profile teams, including the likes of journalist Christina Lamb, who urged the student population to view the issues in Afghanistan from different angles in the much anticipated Afghanistan in Focus – The Untold Story. ![]() Forum - Afghanistan in Focus Yesterday, One World Sport hosted arguably the most popular sporting event on campus: 3x3 Joga Mundo Football in the main Piazza. Audiences were well entertained by observing a wide variety of skills and tricks as teams battled for prizes and pride. Panjabi MCTo end the evening, the TES was transformed into SensAsian, a night of R'n'b, Bollywood, Urban and Desi beats. A Warwick favourite, DJ Kayper, kept everyone on their feet spinning the hottest tunes both sides of the Atlantic. Panjabi MC brought the evening to a close, playing a mix of his latest tunes as well as some unforgettable classics. The night ended on a high, as Panjabi MC dropped his newest collaboration with R'n'b superstar Akon. To be sure, Friday's events really amplified the atmosphere that has existed throughout the week and Sensasian was the perfect pre-party for the finale on Saturday, the World Party... On Saturday, One World Sport finished the week with the popular Sports Quiz where participants had the chance to win items signed by World renowned Cricketer Brian Lara. The cricket bat signed by Lara sold for an unbelievable £185! All funds raised were donated to Right to Play charity. In the evening, the final party of One World Week 2009 was held in the TES where many cultural societies performed alongside the World Party Dancers that got the crowd dancing all night long. One World Week has shown such a variety of cultures within the University of Warwick and this year has proven to be unlike any previous years.
