Post Office Ltd said that the cuts, which are nationwide, are necessary to reduce losses of more than £4m a week. The first closures are scheduled to take place in September.

Services will be provided through a network of 299 branches. Post Office Ltd have said that the national accessibility criteria, introduced by the Government, ensures that 99% of Birmingham, Coventry and Warwickshire will still be within one mile of an alternative branch.
