Meet Sam Green
By Blast sports reporter Sam Green
Find out more about Sam, BBC Coventry & Warwickshire's Blast sports reporter for 2008.
Born and bred
I am a Coventry kid through and through, although I currently attend the University of Wolverhampton. I am halfway through the final year of a broadcast journalism degree course, and commute from my home in Mount Nod where I have lived all of my life.
My occupation changes regularly because I work as a part-time office temp, performing a number of tedious tasks including administration and data entry. I am currently on course to complete the list of every part-time job possible after previously being employed as a production line operative, customer service assistant, receptionist and barman!
I have many aspirations I’d like to achieve at different stages of my life and career. Initially, I aim to successfully complete my degree and improve my ability as a professional journalist. I also intend to continue developing my presenting skills for television and radio.
Longer-term, I aspire to make a living by working professionally in the media, and help to put Coventry on the map by becoming a successful television and radio presenter. Perhaps in a Tim Lovejoy/Jake Humphreys sort of role!
Singing victory songs in the away end at Old Trafford during Coventry City’s 2-0 destruction of European champions Manchester United in the League Cup last season. I can’t imagine it being topped, unless perhaps promotion is achieved……
Calling all United fans
Between the ages of 17 and 21, I was a professional wrestler on the midlands circuit, known under the name: ‘High Impact’ Sam Green!
Live performance. My biggest passion is live entertainment because of the emotion it can create. I am a huge fan of sport, music and comedy.
My favourite sports are football and cricket, but I will take an interest in any competitive event, particularly at national level. If you hadn’t guessed I’m a devoted Coventry City supporter!
I like to experience as much live music as possible, and regularly enjoy going to local gigs. If you are a live music fan, check out the local music scene, there are some cracking bands out there. I also regularly attend the Edinburgh international comedy festival, and it’s always the highlight of my year.

Manufactured music. Tea and coffee. As a relatively laid back person, I dislike people who get strung out about things. I can understand people getting stressed, but don’t take it out on others! That’s my life improvement tip for the day.
More about me
I always keep myself busy, but really enjoy when I do have some spare time to rest. I am at my happiest when I am relaxing, satisfied after completing something I’ve worked really hard on.
I keep myself fit by playing 5-a-side and 11-a-side football, but balance the fitness out by enjoying the social aspects of the game as well!
I feel the Blast scheme is the ideal step forward for me, as it combines my passion for sport with, what I believe, is a talent for journalism. Working with the BBC is the best opportunity I have ever been given, and I intend to get the most out of it for my own personal development by putting as much effort in as I possibly can!
