Listen to JJ's funeral

The funeral has taken place of Private Jeff Doherty of Southam who died under Taleban fire on 12 June.

You can listen to the bulk of the service of thanksgiving for the life of the 20-year-old soldier, known as JJ, by clicking on the relevant links below.

The funeral, conducted by the Reverend Mark Haldon-Jones, took place at St James’ church in Southam on Friday, 27 June.

Taking part in the service were his sister Shanna Wakefield, his former headmaster at Southam College, Platoon commander Sam Aitken and his father Jeff Doherty.

Private Doherty died along with Lance Corporal James Bateman, 29 from 8 Platoon of C (Bruneval) Company, 2nd Battalion the Parachute Regiment.

They were patrolling on foot near their base in Helmand Province when they came under Taleban fire.
