BBC Coventry & Warwickshire is proud to be the official media partner for Team GB at the forthcoming 2007 World Ice Hockey Championships. Headed by the Cassidy Coventry Blaze coach Paul Thompson, the British side will compete against six other nations in Division 1 (Group B) between Sunday, 15 April, and Saturday, 21 April. Great Britain will break into the top 30 in the world rankings if they avoid finishing bottom of the group (they’re currently 31st). Not only would this guarantee playing at a similar level next year, but would also mean GB could enter qualification tournaments for the 2010 Winter Olympics. Those competing in the round-robin competition in Ljubljana, Slovenia, are: Slovenia (18), Japan (21), Hungary (22), Lithuania (25), Romania (26) and GB (31).
