Coventry's walk of fame

There are plans for a new attraction to honour Coventry legends. And you can nominate who you'd like see featured in it...

There are plans for a new Walk Of Fame attraction in the city centre to honour the great and the good of Coventry.

The Coventry Walk Of Fame would be the second one in the country and the first in Sheffield has already opened with considerable success.

Marlon Devonish
Marlon Devonish

As well as musical heroes such as The Specials, Panjabi MC and Pauline Black, the walk can be used to honour sportsmen and women such as Marlon Devonish and the 1987 Cup Final team.

You can also nominate other famous Coventrians like Frank Whittle, Clive Owen or even Lady Godiva herself!

The venue has not yet been decided, but a strong contender is the passageway linking the Whittle Arches to Priory Place - Right outside the BBC Coventry & Warwickshire studios!

Click on the link below to hear local music guru Pete Chambers discussing the project with Councillor Gary Ridley and BBC Coventry & Warwickshire's Trish Adudu.

well- you would have to have Whittle, Godiva (but the person rather than the myth), the specials, James Starley (though not born in cov), Mo Mowlam. I'm not a fan of sports and personally don't see sporting achievement as reason enough to put people in there-but I'm sure the majority of people would disagree with me

Miss Susan F M Bawden
I would like to nominate my Grandfather Albert Ernest Bawden who was one of the many who were killed in the November Coventry Blitz of 14/11/1940. He was on duty as a Special Constable. I never knew him as I was born in the fifties but from the stories I have heard - to me he was a 'Legend'.
