Burnley 1 Sky Blues 2

Sunday, 6 May

City finished the season on a high with a hard-fought victory over Burnley at Turf Moor.

Malta international Michael Mifsud put the Sky Blues ahead in the 40th minute with a left-footed strike from the left side of the area.

Jay Tabb extended the City lead when he broke into the box to finish Kevin Thornton's through ball.

Burnley piled on the pressure in the second half and Paul McVeigh grabbed a consolation goal with a cool finish.

Sky Blues 0 West Brom 1

Saturday, 28 April

The Sky Blues were defeated in their final home match of the season by play-off hopefuls West Bromwich Albion.

City defender Ben Turner was sent-off somewhat harshly for his challenge on Kevin Phillips just before the interval, but only after Paul Robinson had given the visitors the lead.

Coventry boss Iain Dowie was banished to the stands by referee Chris Foy in the second half, with the Baggie's forward Diomansy Kamara also seeing red close to the end of the match.

Sheffield Wednesday 2 Sky Blues 1

Saturday, 21 April

The Sky Blues lost for the second week running despite a better performance from Iain Dowie's side.

Michael Mifsud scored the visitors' goal in-between strikes from Marcus Tudgay and Steven Maclean.

City hit the post twice in the dying minutes, but despite not managing to level the game, results elsewhere ensured the Sky Blues safety from relegation.

Sky Blues 0 Preston North End 4

Saturday, 14 April

On a day when the boys from '67 were paraded around the pitch at half time, the current crop of City players proved they are nowhere near emulating their success of securing promotion to the top flight.

Coventry were undone by two goals in either half from a side that had lost their previous four matches. Brett Ormerod bagged a brace after Chris Sedgwick and David Nugent had also scored.
