It was close, mighty close at the end, but Coventry did claim the spoils after a sterling second half comeback.
In many ways it was a strange old match. Pertemps Bees had more than shaded the first half to lead 14-22 at the break. Coventry did not help their cause with some wayward kicking with at least two of the Bees tries coming from that phase of play. After the break though Cov came out firing and ran up 16 points before a late Bees rally brought their fourth try and an anxious last few moments for the home crowd.
Coventry's first half tries came from Tiueti and Millard, the first after 1 minute 23 seconds - James Moore converted both. After Harvey had landed a penalty for the visitors, the same player converted one of two Takarangi tries and also the third try on half time from Knight. James Moore though had a major hand in the Coventry revival with three penalties in 17 minutes that helped ease his side back in front. Moore then crashed over for Coventry's third and decisive try on 70 minutes with his subsequent conversion taking Coventry 8 points clear (and Moore to 206 points for the season).
Bees had the final say when Adrian Olver crashed over for five points - with Harvey converting. It was close but four important points for Coventry and a third successive win. Next up for Cov is a trip to London to take on the leaders Harlequins on Saturday, 18 February. Their next home match is against Newbury on Saturday, 11 March.
