 | | Are you the next William Shakespeare or George Eliot?
Well we reckon there’s a lot of would-be authors out there with a story to tell, so to celebrate World Book Day on 4 March we’re giving away fifteen bundles of books to the future JK Rowlings out there.
What do we want?
Basically we’re looking for aspiring writers in Coventry and Warwickshire and would like to read your short stories about the area. They can be on any topic - love, adventure, sport. If you write one we’ll definitely read it.
 | | Will Coventry feature in your story?
|
And if we like them we’ll even put them up on our site, and the best fifteen will win four top books.
But please remember to add your contact details in case we need to notify you of your success!
Books on offer
On offer are Dead Air by Iain Banks, Flight From Deathrow by Harry Hill, Scaredy Cat by Mark Billingham and Gladys Reunited by Sandi Toksvig.
Getting started
We’re looking for fictional stories, of no more than 300 words that are based in the area or at least make reference to Coventry and Warwickshire.
We’ve even made it easier for you by giving you the first line:
“It was a cold but bright morning.”
Okay, so it’s only seven words, but it’s a start at least. You’ll still have to decide what the plot is and who the characters will be.
| | | Are you as good as the famous bard?
|
We think you’re all a creative bunch but if you need some inspiration then simply click on the link on the left with some of the short stories that have been submitted already and were good enough to publish.
So it’s time to get out that quill and pot of ink (or start furiously tapping away on the keys in front of you) and get cracking.
Remember, no more than 300 words (excluding the introduction) but let that imagination of yours flow.
How to enter
To enter the competition either submit your entry via email by clicking here or send your entry by post to the address above.
