Abbie received bereavement counseling from St Gemma’s Hospice after the passing of her father when she was aged only 11. Unbearably, two years after losing her dad, her mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer, and Abbie has turned to the hospice for support once again.
After collapsing with a major brain bleed aged only six, Daniel and his family received long-term emotional support and practical help from the Child Brain Injury Trust in the North West. Our funding helps to pay for a full-time Child and Family Support co-ordinator.
Ashleigh was 13 when she was came off a horse and although she was wearing body armour, she was left paralysed from the rib cage down.
As well as taking a physical toll it had a huge impact on her emotional wellbeing. She became depressed and thought about taking her own life. But Back Up Trust, a charity which helps children and young people with Spinal Cord Injury, helped Ashleigh to enjoy life again. She met others who had been injured in a similar way but were learning to cope. It gave her hope for her future.
