Peter
Taylor was a successful businessman who always harboured the desire
to move to Cornwall.
"We
had been coming down to Cornwall and staying in holiday cottages
and walking the coastal path during the winter months," smiles
Peter. "When the opportunity arose to escape to Cornwall we
jumped. We have always wanted to run our own holiday cottages. We
spent over a year seriously looking. We finally found Tresarren
Cottages in Herodsfoot and haven't looked back!"

The
Cornish business has become a major success for Peter with many
people searching for a peaceful holiday away from city life.
"I
think the village offers peace and tranquility in the heart of the
Cornish countryside," says Peter. "Herodsfoot isn't remote
but there are people who live a couple of miles away who have never
been here!"

That
said the village is only ten minutes away from Looe and Polperro
and not far from Liskeard and Plymouth. It offers plenty of beauty.
There is a river that passes through the village on its way to Looe
and lots of old cottages.
Herodsfoot
offers many the break away from city life in a traditional Cornish
village.
"I
built a website to promote our cottages and then in the run up to
the millennium we were looking at ways of fundraising for the restoration
of the church in Herodsfoot," remembers Peter. "I volunteered
to do a simple website and it has grown ever since."

The
website has helped to raise a lot of money for the restoration of
the village's church.
"We
have a small village and an even smaller church community, it has
been a lot of work raising necessary funds," admits Peter.
Publicising
Herodsfoot on the web has brought many people from all over the
world to the site who are wanting to find out about family links."
One
such enquiry led to a substantial gift for the church restoration
funds.
"Only
a few days ago we had a significant donation from a gentleman in
the United States who found the website," says Peter.

"We
provided him with some information and he then made a donation to
the church. His Great Great Grandfather and Great Grandfather both
lived in the village and we have since found out that they may have
been involved in the building of, not the church, but the old chapel
that we have in Herodsfoot. It is interesting how a little research
has found a lot of information from the village's past."
Peter
loves producing the village website and has found it has helped
him to become involved in rural life.
"The
great thing about being the webmaster for the village website is
that you meet all sorts of people that you wouldnt usually get to
see," he says. "It gave me the chance to introduce myself
to Herodsfoot's residents. The web producing has been a lot of fun."
