over Cornwall celebrations have been staged for St Piran's Day.

Truro hundreds gathered at lunchtime on Wednesday for a procession
through the city.

of the youngsters from the local schools had produced banners for
the day.

With
black and gold being the prominent Cornish colours, daffodils outside
the Wig and Pen public house, with the black uniforms of the watching
police as the parade went by, provided an artistic framing for the
dozens of photographers thronging River Street.

Many
in the crowd were wearing the Cornish tartan to celebrate St Piran's
Day.

The
streets of Truro reverberated to the patriotic sounds of Cornwall,
and the sun came out to make the most of the colourful banners and
tartan clothing.
