FACTS

Haven House has a large computer suite offering a variety of information technology qualifications, multi-media, videoconferencing and internet facilities.

In addition, it offers a variety of academic and vocational subjects including GCSEs, A Levels, language, business and NVQ courses and "Learn Direct".

It is open weekdays, evenings and Saturdays.

Exam results just out confirmed exceptional grades for print and broadcast journalism students at Truro College Open Learning Centre.

A 100% pass rate is usual but this time it was distinctions all round in the City & Guilds Diploma course.

Project Team Leader Sue Brown is delighted.

"There is a record of excellent results on this course but these are the best yet. I am absolutely thrilled".

Aren Grimshaw from Camborne is extremely pleased with his results.

"The course has exceeded my expectations and it has been great fun. I feel I have successfully taken the first step into a career in the media.

"I have already had articles printed in the local press and I am doing voluntary work for the press office of a local organisation".

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here" said Simon Howe from Truro.

"It was so much more than I had expected I think my brain is about to burst. I didn't expect to get a distinction but I'm not giving it back now! I am seriously considering a career in magazine journalism".

"Anyone who would like to come in and discuss how they can achieve similar results is most welcome" said Sue.

The diploma course is held at Haven House in Truro, three days a week for six months.

It's a good basis for anyone wishing to study towards a career in the media.
