Local
snowboarder Dan Wakeham has finished the competition season as European
champion.
His two Europa cup wins and a 7th place left him leading by 100
points.

As
European Champion Dan Wakeham is the first Brit from both ski and
snowboard disciplines to ever win this title.
The
European cup series is a host of competitions ranked just below
the World cup series. In the UK there are only two places for male
competitors to start in any World Cup event.

Dan
explains: "Until now I have had to share those starts with
my team mates meaning that I have only been able to compete in two
World Cups this season.
"By
winning the European Cup I have won a quota spot so that I can have
a start in every World Cup event."
Dan
now has the chance to compete in seven World Cup events before the
Olympics.
He
also shook up the Orange British Snowboard Championships in Laax
recently. Dan came second in the Halfpipe Competition and narrowly
missed a podium position in the Slopestyle event.
