BBC Cornwall's Lisa Woodruff went along to the closing party of the first Hi5 exhibition. The closing party on Friday 25 September was a culmination of two weeks where the Hi5 artists used the empty Fistral Surf Company shop in Truro as a workshop to create art, exhibit work and interact with the general public. The artists wanted to create a space where ordinary people could come and chat to the artists in residence, create their own art and watch an installation from Sculptor James Eddy in progress. ![]() Hi5 - Cornwall based artists The wrap party was a resounding success with Hi5 cocktails, tea and cake and excellent acoustic music from Chris Smith and Ruarri Joseph. The artists each had a painting up for a silent auction, where potential buyers put forward a bid in a bag in the hope to win the picture of their choice. The proceeds of which went to Unity’s Charity. ![]() Hi5 Artist Paul Bawden print The artists had been working away on a canvas together in the space for the last two weeks. This was originally due to be auctioned but will now go along to the next empty shop as an ongoing visual story of the Hi5 collective. Hi5 are Cornwall based Fine artist Faye Dobinson, Printmaker Paul Bawden, Illustrator Caroline Pedler, Equine artist Lucy Brown and Bristol based Animator/Artist Kate Maratty.
