Listen to an interview with BBC Cornwall's David White. With an eclectic mix of electro and alt-pop influences ranging from The Eurythmics, and Blondie to Daft Punk and Soulwax, Marble Fairy's sound packs a disco-funk punch. Marble Fairy is Jimmy – lead guitar, Molly – lead vocals, Jake - bass, Charlie - drums and Wheeze on keyboards and synth. ![]() Molly and Jimmy in action. In their own words the band describes their sound as: electro-power-pop, with psychedelic, energised elements as singer Molly reflects: "Basically it's just bring along your dancing shoes to the gigs, music". Fresh from a local appearance at tribute festival Al-stock, Marble Fairy popped into BBC Radio Cornwall to speak to David White about their exciting new sound. You can listen to the interview by clicking the links below. Help playing audio/video Molly's vocal talents include hints of Sophie Ellis Bextor whilst showing the Debbie Harry influences complimented by the bands funky bass riffs and energised drum and keyboard samples to present a layered, alt-pop rhythm that at times highlights them as The Long Blonds funkier cousins. Although a relatively new act, Marble Fairy boast some pre-existing local music experience. Jimmy from the band formerly played in Cornish indie act Glass Shark before taking a trip into the electro side. The Marbles' sound originated from Jimmy and Louise (Wheeze) writing and producing demo's with the other members of the band building up songs with their individual talents to create the layered electro-pop tracks MySpace users are currently enjoying. On their visit to BBC Cornwall the band spoke about a few of their songs and the difficulties of starting as a new band in the UK industry, you can hear part 2 of the BBC Introducing interview by clicking on the link below. Talking about the bands live set, Jimmy reflected on the need local bands often have for playing covers amongst their own material: "It's ok if you pick the covers that fit with your original material, it's quite nice to take some tracks and do them in your own way". Interestingly, the band's name was decided almost by accident when they were discussing potential ideas over a cup of tea, when some word magnets randomly stuck to the fridge door included the words Marble and Fairy together. With 16 songs written since December the band looks to be on top form for recording a planned six-track EP in August which with any luck may lead to an album in the near future.
