Marti plays the devilish Darryl Van Horne and we sent our Tiffany Truscott along to meet him. Hear the interview. Marti has come along way since he started singing with friends in the early '80s. The friends became Wet Wet Wet, and one of the biggest band of the decade. The Wets enjoyed a phenomenal run of 25 Top 40 hits including 'Temptation' (1988), 'Sweet Surrender' (1989), 'Lip Service' (1992), 'Julia Says' (1995), 'Don't Want To Forgive Me Now' (1995) and 'If I Never See You Again' (1997). The first was a Beatles' cover 'With A Little Help From My Friends' (1988) - whose proceeds of £600,000 were donated to Childline. ![]() Marti and BBC Cornwall's Tiffany Truscott This was followed by the self-penned, 'Goodnight Girl' (1992) that was number one simultaneously with the 'High On The Happy Side' album, and 'Love Is All Around' (1994) - a No. 1 simultaneously with 'End Of Part One' - the first greatest hits album. The latter single was a huge international success and spent countless weeks at the top of the British charts. After Pellow enjoyed solo success in the early 2000's the Scottish friends got back together to work on an eighth album. At the end of 2006 Wet Wet Wet were the headline act for Aberdeen's Hogmanay celebrations. Further singles have followed for the band. ![]() Marti appeared in the BBC's Just the Two of Us In May 2008, Marti Pellow appeared in Sir Tim Rice's concert revival of his hit musical Chess, playing the 'Arbiter'. The concert took place at the Royal Albert Hall. Since the end of August 2008 he is playing the leading role in a revival of the musical 'The Witches of Eastwick', a bewitching musical based on the Warner Brothers motion picture which starred Jack Nicholson, Michelle Pfeiffer and Cher. When three desperate housewives in small town America wish for the man of their dreams they get far more than they bargain for. All hell breaks loose – quite literally – when Darryl Van Horne arrives to liven things up.
