Fedde Le Grand is coming to Newquay

Put Your Hands Up

Legendary DJ's Fedde Le Grand, Boy George and Fergie are headlining the main arena at this year's Run to the Sun. The weekend event also features comedians, tribute acts, and of course the flashiest cars in town.

In the past the Run to the Sun team have brought to Newquay some of the world's finest DJs including Hedkandi, KraftyKuts, Ben McGowan, Lisa Lashes, Mauro Picotto, BBC Radio 1's Annie Mac and many more.

This year's line up is equally impressive. The Dutch DJ/Producer Fedde le Grand has become an artist of world stature thanks to his smash 'Put Your Hands Up for Detroit', which still fills dancefloors two years on.

Boy George

Boy George is well known for his smash hits with Culture Club, but before, during and after the band he has always been a passionate DJ. He returns to Newquay as part of the RTTS line up for 2008.

And that's just the opening night on Friday 23 May.

On Saturday 24 May BBC Radio 1 DJ Fergie will take to the decks alongside Mauro Picotto, Adam Beyer, and local favourite Ben McGowan.

Marco V headlines the main arena on Sunday 25 May, while Lisa Lashes adds some glamour to the Run to the Sun decks.

Arena Two features live bands. This year Cornish three piece rock band Three Minute Warning will perform everything from Franz Ferdinand to the Beatles.

Fergie

Pronghorn, the UK's No1 Hill Billy band will be headlining RTTS on the Saturday night.

Sunday is the popular '70s night, so don those flares and boogie with The Coloursound Nation.

During the daytime, the cars take over.

When the festival was launched back in the late '80s around 70 cars turned up. It has continued to grow each year. Now thousands of car enthusiasts from across the UK and beyond travel to Newquay to indulge in this annual festival which attracts up to 100,000 visitors each year.

The car cruise organised by Volksworld heralds the beginning of the festival on Friday 23 May. Starting at Heston services on the M4, VW and Custom Car enthusiasts meet at various service stations enroute to the festival site in Newquay.

The cruise alone can attract in excess of 1000 cars creating a line of traffic over eight kilometres long.

Tregunnel Car Park in Newquay hosts the Show 'n' Shine event on the Sunday of Run to the Sun. It lasts all day and attracts somewhere in the region of 25,000 people.

Some of the finest cars in Europe can be seen at the event and it is up to the editors of Volksworld magazine and the National Association of Street Cars to decide who will walk away with the prize money.
