Cornwall's first 'DJ Of The Year' award was launched in December 2006 by Littlesouth which promotes Cornish DJs. Within days more than 10,000 people had voted in the online award. The judges also looked at how popular the clubbing podcast episodes were and what the listed DJs gave back to the Cornish clubbing scene. The DJ who consistently showed that he was dedicated to the Cornish clubbing scene was DJ Kristoff who was a regular face at bars like The MI Bar in Falmouth, The Hub in St Ives, and Newquay's Koola Bar. "I play a style which I hope just seems slightly different than what people generally hear out in the clubs," said a delighted Kristoff on littlesouth.com

"I try not to play the original versions of tunes out but to find a different remix, something not always easy to find, but definitely worth the hassle of looking for. "Being a resident in 2006 the different venues gave me a chance to play to quite a varied crowd trying different things in each place, which helps keep everything fresh and exciting." DJ Kristoff started DJ'ing in December 2002, having picked up the basics while working as a Club Rep in Newquay. His first residency was held at the Navy Inn in Penzance, playing every Sunday during the summer of 2003. Gaining experience and confidence in 2004 he then moved onto the Barn nightclub in Penzance working as a lighting jock and warm up DJ. Three months on his first club residency started. DJ Kristoff has played many warm up sets for big name DJs like Mark Sherry, Andy Farley, Tomcraft, Farley Jackmaster Funk and many more. Since then there's been no looking back for the Cornish DJ who is expecting 2007 to be just as busy.
