Flood watch

Flooding of low-lying land and roads is expected for the North Cornwall Coast Flood Watch Area from Lands End to Hartland Point including St Ives Bay, Perranporth, Padstow and Bude.

South Coast

Flooding of low-lying land and roads is expected for the South Cornwall Coast Flood Watch Area from Land's End to Plymouth including Mounts Bay, Porthleven, Fowey, Looe & Plymouth.  Be aware.  Be prepared.  Watch out!

General flooding is possible, including edge of quays and harbourside car parks.

Locations affected may include: Newlyn, Penzance, Marazion, Porthleven, Penryn, Falmouth, Truro, Mevagissey, Fowey, Looe, Seaton, Kingsand, Cawsand and Millbrook.

Predicted conditions indicate that problems may occur for the following high tide:
Tidal Gauge: Newlyn
Wednesday 5th December 2006, 1642hrs local time

Tidal Gauge: Plymouth
Wednesday 5th December 2006, 1750hrs local time

Times of high tide at other locations will vary.
These conditions will usually apply two hours either side of the high tide times given.

North Coast

Tidal Gauge: Padstow
Wednesday 5th December 2006, time 1731 hrs local time

Times of high tide at other locations will vary.
These conditions will usually apply 2 hours either side of the high tide times given.

The Environment Agency advises that people should act now:

  • Ring Floodline on 0845 988 1188 for up to date flooding information.
  • Tune in to weather and travel bulletins
  •  Keep a watch on the weather and water levels
  • Tell your family, friends and neighbours
  •  Drive carefully - roads may be flooded
  •  Farmers - check livestock
  • Check availability of torches and batteries
  • Be aware of the possibility of further flooding
  •  Be aware - be prepared - watch out!
