Boscawen Park in Truro played host to a great free gig of local music on Sunday from 11am all day.
 | | Amy May played the acoustic stage. |
Some of the best local music talent could be seen across two stages, one of which was dedicated to acoustic acts giving a contrast to some of the louder, more rockier bands. I arrived as The Hitchcock Rules were playing and I saw what I missed at the Unleashed on Saturday. They captured the chilled out, summer vibe in their rock/jazz fusion of great songs. The Cosmic Stones were another highlight, they may have even won me round to the idea of tribute bands. They got the crowd up dancing and singing along to Stones classics such as 'Brown Sugar'. After four gigs in four days Marvin and the Gayes still delivered the lively set of electro rock that the fans have become used to.
 | | Blues Connection headlined the festival. |
Headliners Blues Connection added a funky blues flavour to the evening making sure the crowd kept on dancing. One of the highlights on the acoustic stage was Amy May who as well as having a great name played some beautifully mellow songs combining brilliantly with the sunshine. Bands that played earlier in the day included The Reels, My Elvis Blackout, Even Nine and The Noel Prior band among others. The Boscawen Park Music Festival was in aid of Stevie's challenge. Stevie is raising money for a new Paramedic Motorbike for Cornwall and a new Dog for the Disabled. Rounding of a great weekend for live music in Cornwall this festival showed that Cornwall has some amazing talent of it's own. Sunshine, food, beer and free bands, what more could you want from a festival? |
