Endless African Summer

Chris Ryan
Chris is a longboarder from West Cornwall. He decided to forego the cold Cornish winter surf in favour of the warmer climes and waters of Ghana. Read his African surf trip diaries.

bike and beach
The trusty bike's going well

It's almost three weeks now and I still haven't seen another surfer, which is still nice but I'm sure soon I'll crave a little wave sharing.

Yesterday I hiked an hour to a remote village on a beach with a mellow right point and beach break and was mobbed by 20 or 30 kids.

I surfed the point for an hour or so then gave all the kids surf lessons. Stoked! Cape three points should be called cape 100 points. The bay has reefs, points, beachies....amazing.

Cape Lighthouse, Ghana
Cape Lighthouse

The bike's going well. I've done about 50 miles exploring the coast by peddle power, plus only had five punctures so far (good old Hayle Cycles repair kit!)

I've been staying at The Green Turtle lodge near Akwidaa for five quid a night, bit pricey I know but good food going to try and stay at Capes lighthouse tomorrow.
