Deadmen Walking partying on stage

Deadmen Walking to party in Newquay

Take members from four of the '80s most influential bands, throw in their greatest hits and mix together with a big dose of partying and you have Deadmen Walking. Hear our interview with Slim Jim Phantom from the band.

Deadmen Walking travel the world on a mission to party. The members can all lay claim to being a major influence on the music of the '80s. Whether it's the rock and roll of The Stray Cats, the rock of The Damned, or the punk of The Alarm and Spear of Destiny, an evening with Deadmen Walking is never going to be dull!

Where else can you see and hear the classic '80s anthems like 'Neat Neat Neat', '68 Guns', 'Do You Believe In The Westworld' and 'Runaway Boys' played live on the same night and by the people who wrote the songs in the first place...

If you have happy memories of those songs, and many more then you can re-live the wonderful decade of decadence that was the '80s when Deadmen Walking arrive at their mid October destination - The Barracuda in Newquay.

The band Slim Jim Phantom (from The Stray Cats), Mike Peters (The Alarm), Kirk Brandon (Spear Of Destiny) and new kid on the block Captain Sensible (The Damned and successful solo career) will be ordering the Newquay crowd to party on Sunday 16 October 2005.

BBC Cornwall's Matt Shepherd caught up with Slim Jim Phantom of The Stray Cats and member of Deadmen Walking to find out more about what the crowd can expect at their Newquay gig. Click on the link below to hear the full interview with Slim Jim.

Captain embarked on a solo career in 1982 and had a hit single with ‘Glad It’s All Over’.  The Damned continue to tour today. He is the latest member of Deadmen Walking.

Kirk Brandon, who is responsible for writing all the seminal Spear Of Destiny songs like 'Never Take Me Alive', 'Liberator' and 'Mickey', is still as pioneering an artist as he ever was, having just recorded a new studio Album 'Loadestone'.

Brandon has recently worked with filmmaker Simon Neville on this project.

Mike Peters of The Alarm, who at various times throughout his music career
has sung duets with Bob Dylan, Neil Young and U2's Bono is the Welsh member of Dead Men Walking.

Mike Peters and The Alarm pioneered the use of acoustic guitars back in the early eighties.

This move helped to create what is now known as the electro-acoustic sound of today; the sound behind such memorable Alarm hits as '68 Guns', 'Rain In The Summertime', 'Where Were You Hiding When The Storm Broke?' and 'Absolute Reality'.

Slim Jim Phantom who has just finished a month of sold out European dates brings his unique stand-up style of drumming to Dead Men Walking.

Phantom co-wrote some of the Stray Cats best known tracks like 'Runaway Boys' and 'Rumble In Brighton' with guitarist Brian Setzer. He has recently made records with legendary Rock and Roll King Jerry Lee Lewis and Motorhead's Lemmy.

Slim Jim's connection with the various members of Dead Men Walking began when The Stray Cats came to London during the early '80s.

In fact, Mike Peters' then band Seventeen supported The Stray Cats on their first ever 'Runaway Boys UK Tour'. They have all remained friends ever since.
