Phat threads

Writter by Thruster
Being widely accepted by my peers as a meticulous style bandit always one step ahead of the game, it is my duty to keep you scruffians up to date with what threads are going to get you the phat respec you deserve on the beach this summer.

Facts about Thruster

Thruster didn't take up surfing until he was 19, but soon became hooked and was determined to let neither a late start, nor a remarkable dearth of natural talent stand in his way.

Now aged 38 he still sincerely believes it is only a matter of time before he becomes world champion.

Also obsessed with snowboarding, at which he is marginally more impressive (he can stand up), Thruster has been writing surfing and extreme sports articles for 12 years. His next journalistic challenge is to write a good one.

Home Break: Gwithian

Surf Trips: Mexico, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Philippines, Fiji, Indonesia, NZ, Hawaii, Australia, South Africa, Canaries, Portugal, Spain, France, Ireland.

Surfers' Ear Operations: 3 (but needs another)

Would love to live in: Galicia

Board: 6'4" x 18 ¾ rounded pin (and a 7'4" log when really desperate)

Standard: Easily one of the best in his cul-de-sac.

Hawaii: The land of surfing kings.  The original surf nation where you can only gain the true respect of your fellow surfers by proving yourself year after year to be a fearless and skilled performer in some of the heaviest waves on the planet.

Cornwall: The land of onshore dribble.  The place where, due to a dearth of opportunities to prove themselves in decent waves, surfers are more likely to be judged by the overall flyness of their surfing attire.

With this in mind and, being widely accepted by my peers as a meticulous style bandit always one step ahead of the game, it is my duty to keep you scruffians up to date with what threads are going to get you the phat respec you deserve on the beach this summer.

Are you down with that? The most important point to consider this coming season is the cut of your boardshorts. Gone are the baggy, knee length "skater" shorts of the last decade, but in, in, IN are shorter, tighter and brighter boardies similar to those of the early 80's.  This time around though, a little more room must be left for the genitalia as things can tend to get a little too graphic down there but, overall, we're looking at tight and short.

Don't be fooled by a lack of these shorts being available in the shops at the moment - like I said, I'm always one step ahead of the game - they'll be there soon. It's time to tighten up those buns boys! - Thruster
