A Literary Extravaganza

Pitch your tent in hundreds of acres of parkland in the grounds of an ancient stately home and enjoy a 3-Day extravaganza of music, words, dancing, film, food & fairytales.

Imagine eating seafood, drinking champagne cider, getting lost in an 18th Century maze, dancing under the stars, falling in love, watching a film, being digitally dazed, hearing a story, eating fish soup and then falling asleep in a tent in acres of 18th Century parkland in the grounds of an ancient stately home.

Sound idyllic? Enjoy a weekend of words, music, magic, dancing, food and fairytales, in the most idyllic secret garden in England.

Port Eliot Lit Fest features a rich contemporary mix of writers, poets, filmmakers, digital artists, sculptors and musicians. Come and be part of this summer's most happening literary happening. Watch Ralph Steadman don his Hunter S. Thompson outfit and summon the spirit of his old friend with readings from unpublished work.

Share your weekend with Martin Parr, Michael Foot, Louis de Bernieres, Gavin Turk, Ekow Eshun Michael Howells, Richard Benson, James Cauty Michael Eavis, Lily Fraser, Tom Baxter, Mick Brown, Toby Litt, Geoff Dyer, Louis Eliot, Huge Advance, Simon Munnery, Aisle 16, Francis Upritchard, Hari Kunzru and many more. Plus, for the first time this year dine in splendour by candlelight in Port Eliot house.

Hosted by the Earl of St Germans, the festival is organized by Catherine Wilson, journalist and author, Simon Prosser, Publishing Director of Hamish Hamilton, Rick Worthy, actor and musician and Robert Hocking, digital artist and teacher.

The film tent has a seating capacity of approx 250 and black out facility. This was a big hit last year, and saw some wonderful and eccentric events. In the house there will be The Artytechs Parlour, where you will find cutting-edge experiments in artistic digital technology.

There will be a wide range of fabulous food to suit every taste including vegetarian, hot breakfasts, all day carvery, tapas bar, Spanish churros, falafels, tea and cakes in the Orangery, Cornish pasties, crepes and an ice cream van by the estuary. There is also a  bookshop and a bazaar of stalls selling vintage clothes, jewellery, wrought iron work, soap, handmade paper and other delights. Lillian Jones will has a massage tent in the Scented Garden. Campers will also  be able to enjoy deluxe hot showers.

Read. Think. Explore. Be inspired.
