They play hiphop/funk/drum&bass in a mash up of live instruments and sampled sounds.

Barnaby Ray supplies the live beats with DJ Bloodman and James Oecken providing the bass samples, electronic drum noises and keyboards.

The one man horn section is Paul Haywood who plays all saxophones and flute, often at the same time. Acoustic and synth bass is played by Ross Williams

This is all fronted by MC Fadadoo from Bristol and female vocalist Bethan Leopold.

After many successful performances all over the South-West, Saturday, June the 18th at the Koola will be the last chance to catch the band before their debut performance at this years Glastonbury Festival in the Dance Tent where they will be performing alongside up and coming UK hip-hop artist Genesis Elijah.

The Chy in Newquay

The Chy, pronounced 'Shy' is Cornish for home. Seven nights a week during the summer, it offers food and cool grooves for Newquay's 'all-week-long' party animals.

It stays open until 2am and has brought together some of Cornwall's finest DJs for the summer months:

Mondays: S.I.N at The Chy

S.I.N has been running for over a year and it's strictly a night for the locals with 2-4-1 drink offers throughout the night long.

DJ Lee Vowles supplies the music from across the board.

Listen to northern soul next to 80s rock and 90s madchester classics.

Tuesdays: Best Of British

New for the 2005 season.

DJ Casey unpacks some cool music that has its roots firmly grown in the UK.

He packs his box with the best from the vaults like Bowie, Oasis and the Rolling Stones, alongside fresh tracks from the likes of the Coral, the Kaiser Chiefs & the Thrills.

A party brought to you by one of Newquay’s best known party heads.

Wednesdays: Expanded Soul

Returning after a notable absence over the winter, DJ Lee Derrick is at the helm on Wednesdays.

They’ve been laying down the kind of feel good funky house music that the bar has become famous for.

Piers’ profile just goes from strength to strength with new music signed to 4 different labels.

The UKs hottest – Defected Records, Smokin Beats, Maya (based in NYC) and most recently - Kent based Solid Soul.

Expect the most exclusive new house music from around the world.

Saturdays: Full Phat n Funky

DJ Atomic Dog takes clubbers through old skool Hip Hop & Funk.

Originally just a hip hop DJ, Dog went from listening and playing to looking deeper into the music discovering amongst others a passion for funk, jazz, soul and reggae!

He cut his teeth playing out the kind of music that inspired people like Africa Bambatta, Grandmaster Flash, Jazzy Jay and Grand Wizard Theodore to a new audience.

He can usually be found trying to educate his audience into funk, breaks, old skool hip-hop and usually the odd obscure rarity!

Most likely to start a conversation by saying “yeah that snare drum was sampled by…” or “Is that maid single?”

In 2002 he helped to set up the 33 Throwdown Recordings record label with Dren and Just Brian!

The label continues to grow, putting out hip-hop; lesson style cut n paste mixes and electro amongst others!

Sundays: The Funkwits

Check out some live funk, dance & reggae inspired original tunes plus some cool covers from the likes of James Brown, Groove Armada & Bob Marley courtesy of the Chy’s new resident band… the FunkWits.
