Media initiatives in Essex

Essex Emergency Plans Unit work closely with their local media, including BBC Essex, who have always played an important part in responding to major incidents.

Working together means training together and BBC Essex have supported many initiatives and activities by the Unit.

• Development of training video and audio tapes.
• Use of journalists in training exercises.
• Familiarisation training by BBC Essex for emergency planners.
• Liaison with BBC Essex over running of Call Centres.
• Close liaison over the development of a Media Plan.
• Ceefax and BBC web pages as part of the information strategy.
