Digital on-screen graphics

Complaint

The BBC should not use digital on-screen graphics as TV channel identifiers.

The BBC's response

In common with other broadcasters, the BBC inserts channel identifiers for dedicated digital channels because, as the number of channels grows, we believe it is important to ensure that viewers can quickly identify when they are watching a BBC service. The identifier is normally at the top left-hand part of the picture to avoid clashing with subtitles or captions, and this area of the screen rarely contains sensitive material which an identifier might obscure or interfere. If a service has a website linked to the programme a web address may be placed towards the top right of the screen.
